Video: Fall Migration 101

Oct 29, 2024

Migrating geese

Each year from July through December, approximately 4 billion birds migrate through the United States during fall migration. In October and November, larger wild birds, including Canada geese, travel to their southern wintering grounds – and can impact buildings, facilities and grounds while en route.

To help commercial and industrial property managers mitigate the damage migrating birds can cause, Wild Goose Chase staff biologists created a video that explores the biological science behind fall migration and outlines some best practices for managing nuisance birds.

Highlights of the video include:

  • Migration (0:44): when and where specific bird species migrate
  • Threats (6:19): how your property can help prevent bird-building collisions
  • Nuisance Birds (9:13): which harassment and deterrence solutions can be implemented to help your property manage migrating nuisance birds
